Raghav Bahl biography : Raghav Bahl is an Indian businessman, serial entrepreneur and owner of several TV channels including TV18 India. He was the founder / majority shareholder and managing director of Network 18 Group till the acquisition of Reliance Industries Limited.

Besides setting up and expanding Network 18, India’s leading media conglomerate Raghav seeded moneycontrol.com, bookmyshow.com, Firstpost, Yatra, among others. It has established long lasting and successful partnerships with some of the world’s major media brands. : CNBC, Viacom, BBC, Star TV, A & E, Time Warner, Forbes. Raghav founded Quintilian Media Private Limited after leaving Network 18 with his wife Ritu Kapoor. It has signed a joint venture agreement with Bloomberg LP to launch the Bloomberg Quint.

Early life :

He received his education at St. Xavier’s School, Delhi. He graduated in Economics with Honors from St. Stephens College and earned a Master of Business Administration from the College of Management Studies.


Raghav Bahl started his career as a management consultant at AF Ferguson & Company, followed by a stint at American Express Bank, and then moved to the media. Raghav has over 22 years of experience in television and journalism.

He started his media career in 1985 as a reporter and presenter for Doordarshan. He was the host and production consultant for Newstack, India’s first monthly video news magazine, produced by the India Today group. From 1991 to 1993, he was the CEO of Business India Television and produced the Business India Show and Business AM. in TV

He started TV18 in 1985 and in just 12 years, the company grew from zero revenue to a revenue of Rs 100 million. In 1999, he launched CNBC-TV18. He was responsible for much of TV18’s work and the direction of channels such as CNBC-Awaaz, Nickelodeon and Rang. Raghav served as the Managing Director of TV18 Group till July 2014, after which ownership was passed to Reliance Industries. He then founded digital startup Quintilian Media on 8 July 2014 with his wife Ritu Kapoor.

Raghav is a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Grant :

  • In 1994, the World Economic Forum named Raghav as the World Leader of Tomorrow and won India’s Sanskrit Award for Journalism.
  • In 2007, he was named Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Business Transformation.
  • In 2008, he won the Indian Tele Award for Lifetime Contribution to Indian Television.
  • In 2011, he won the All India Management Association Media Person of the Year Award and the Bombay Management Association Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
